At Hanako, we have great respect for those who strive to do the best by and make the most out of nature and holistic healing practices. We also love a good cuppa! Which is why we were honoured to sit down with Melbourne-based Love Tea founders, Damien and Emma, to find out how their unique teas are blending naturopathy and organics to make the world a better place. There’s a lot to learn from their story, so sit back with your favourite brew and enjoy!
HANAKO: What is Love Tea and how did it come about?
Emma: Love Tea was born from a vision to provide people with high quality, certified organic teas, that offered health benefits with no compromise on taste. At the time, there weren’t many teas on the market, that were certified organic and that had been designed by a naturopath. As a naturopath, I feel tea is a really simple and beautiful way to connect people with herbs on a daily basis.
Damien:Emma’s focus was on the therapeutics, the tea design and helping people improve their health. I had grown up on a biodynamic farm and was passionate about organics, sourcing the highest quality ingredients and ensuring they had the least amount of negative impact on the planet.
HANAKO: Why was it important to be certified organic and what are the impacts on the environment of making that kind of tea?
Emma: Love Tea became certified organic in 2012 as we wanted to provide tea drinkers with the highest quality tea, free from chemicals and therefore better for the individual’s health.
Damien: We also wanted to leave the least amount of negative impact on the planet at large, and dealing with certified organic plantations was the best way to ensure this.
HANAKO: How does running a business align with your ethos? Does Love Tea as a company have an ethical mindset?
Damien: We collaborate with growers and small scale cooperatives around the world to fairly source organic ingredients. We thoughtfully design each of our unique products, to ensure optimum therapeutic benefit, exceptional flavour and minimal impact on the environment. We hope our tea inspires you to make time to appreciate the quiet moments, take care of your health and to share great tea with the people you love.
HANAKO: What kind of journey do you hope Love Tea will take in future?
Damien: For the last 12 months we have been undertaking an extensive re-brand and working a great deal “from the back end” of the business. We also decided to launch 10 new products at the same time as rolling out the re-brand.
Emma: There is never a dull moment!
HANAKO: What other advice to you have for those wishing to enhance their energy and health?
Emma: Surround yourself with healthy wholesome and nutritious foods and what you consume will always be healthy and beneficial for you body.
