1. Tell us a bit about yourself?
I do what I do because I melt inside of it.
2. How did you first foray into poetry and photography?
It’s something I hold myself fortunate enough to have discovered inside of me at a very early age. I think I always intuitively knew, that what I do now is what I was always meant to do. I don't know how to not be myself. I have explored and dabbled in more things than I can count, but nothing makes my insides beat as hard as creating my imagery and the pouring out of words. I was writing far before I picked up a camera, not many people know that because it was always kept to myself, inside of myself. It was easier for me to articulate through imagery. Then social media became something I did. Vulnerability happened. Connection happened.
One day I thought:
“I am not just one-dimensional. There is such a vast array of women within me. Lets fucking share them all!”
Little by little.
I don’t think it matters too much how any of this happened. As long as the passion was found. As long as we all find what makes our insides beat hardest. It’s about getting close to the heart of life.
And here we are.
3. How do you stay grounded?
The salt within the ocean is my healing, moving stagnant energy through the body. Sand to roll in and get into all of my bits. Releasing. If I don't have that, I have music to sway my hips to. Mostly naked. I have tea leaves and meditation to drop into fourth dimensional alignment. I can drive head first into the middle of no where and disappear for days. Detaching. Maybe I’ll create art when I am in the no where, maybe I will just be where I am when I am there.
4. What are your 5 non-negotiable life values?
Kindness. Heart open. Wisdom. Showing up. Honesty. Independence. Being brave enough to let yourself go to love, chance or whatever else life may throw at you. Be deliciously, largely you
5. If there was one thing you could tell your 15 year old self, what would it be?
Isabel, you will find strength in surrender. Power in softness. You are capable and worthy, and you can rest into your art, and into yourself, and it can be light. In your own way. You will discover the beauty of depth inside, and you will learn how to swim in it. Everything may feel like the end of the world in the moment you are in, but it is only the end of the world if you collapse within stagnancy and retreat from your art. You have too much heart to give. Keep giving.
6. What makes you come alive?
Watching my own breathing, waking in the middle of no where surrounded by stillness and an eerie silence where you can hear the blood in your veins as the sun wakes. That first light of heat upon my face.Bound to nothing. Connected to everything.
7. Who is your greatest inspiration?
This entire earthly experience.
8. How important do you think it is to have a spiritual connection with oneself?
The connection you have with yourself, is the most important connection you will establish in your entire lifetime. Whether it’s spiritual or not. We all have our own definitions of spiritual. But you can only give others what you give yourself. All we are is energy, and energy is conscious. What you give out, will be given straight back to you.
If we cannot connect to ourselves, we cannot have that deeper connection with another.
We can only give kindness, the way we give ourselves kindness.
We can only give love, the way we give ourselves love.
Too many humans on this earth don’t understand the language of their own heart. Too many humans are in their heads more than their bodies. Too many humans do not know how to be alone. That is where the healing grows. Alone does not equate to loneliness. Once you get the inside right, the outside will rest into place. It may take years for you to come home to yourself. That is where the patience happens. That is where the love happens.
9. What do you want to be doing and feeling in 5 years?
Where I am now is infinite. Wherever I will be in 5 years time will be infinite. What’s coming will come, and I will meet it with warmth when it does.
10. What has your experience with Hanako elixirs been like?
Uplifting. Realigning. Honey to the soul.
